Taking off at 4 am tomorrow and haulin’ ass to Crescent City. Fishing Tuesday, then trying to get to Portland in time for dinner. Fishing Wednesday, then partying in Portland. Then a 20 hour drive home Thursday. 2400 miles in 4 days. Should be pretty epic. I tried to take a picture of the truck all loaded up, but it was too dark. If I make it back alive, I’ll report back.

Damn. Be safe, will you? If you find yourself fraying, don't force it. Better to get home a little late but alive and well. Good luck!

The hardest part has to be, at what time do you quit fishing to pack up & leave.

Thanks man. I’ll have a buddy with me. The 1000 mile days are way easier when you do them in shifts.

Well it wasn’t Sacramento exactly. I grew up in Roseville though.

Is it really faster to go out to Barstow instead of just going through LA?

It wouldn’t surprise me — if he’s leaving first thing in the morning, almost certainly.

I ask because I am from Northern California, but I live in North County San Diego. Was wondering if it was a good idea to go through the 15 and swing east. Good to know.

Avoiding the 405 and the 5 between 6 and 10 AM is a good idea...

Yeah definitely, depending on what time it is. We hit LA at like 9 last night and didn’t have any problems, but I’ll swing east rather than drive through LA any time between like 7 am and 7 pm. Another good way to go is Pear Blossom highway from 15 over through Palmdale to the 5. But Tehachapi made more sense this trip because we were headed to the 99.
